Smith & Nephew South Africa is committed to providing our clinicians with comprehensive, tailored education and training, not only on the most appropriate use of wound care products, but just as importantly the theory
of wound management.

Your Local Representative
Your Smith & Nephew Representative can provide you with up to date research and clinical trials associated with our range of products supplied in South Africa. They are also the best people to contact with regard to training on the practicalities on using any of Smith & Nephews products.

Wound Care Academy
This initiative run in conjunction with The University of Hertfordshire, UK, is fully sponsored by Smith & Nephew, with the focus being placed on practical, clinical and theoretical aspects of modern wound management.

Madeleine Flanagan and Jacqui Fletcher, both senior lecturers at the University, have designed the courses, which have consistently been evaluated as excellent by delegates attending over the last four years.

The purpose of the Wound Care Academy is to enhance the level of knowledge, with regard to wound management principles and practice amongst nurses in South Africa.

The WCA is held once a year. Currently two courses are on offer.

  • One week course in Contemporary Wound Management

  • 3 day course on Advanced Leg Ulcer Management

Application forms can be acquired from your local Smith & Nephew Representative, or from Smith & Nephew's head office in Durban.

Seminar Tours
Smith & Nephew regularly invite international speakers to South Africa in order to share the latest techniques and advances from all over the world with South Africa's clinicians.

Not only is this of great benefit to us, but at the same time our international guests also gain knowledge and insight into our techniques and procedures, therefore we all truly benefit from the concept of sharing best practice.

Previous seminar tours have covered topics such as Burns, IV management and Chronic Wound Care.

Details of the seminar tours are always available from your local Smith & Nephew Representative.
