The innovative Versajet™ Hydrosurgery system is a specialised powered surgical tool designed to improve care for patients undergoing wound debridement.
This unique system can reduce the number of procedures some patients may have to undergo4. This is not only better for the patient and surgeon; it can also reduce the cost of debridement, providing a better way to operate.

The system consists of five components:

  1. Handpiece
The handpiece is a sterile, disposable unit that can be used to debride and clean wounds.
  2. Power Console
This creates the fluid jet that enables the handpiece to work.
  3. Pedal
A pedal switch allows single-handed usage.
  4. A saline bag
  5. Waste container
 Operation
  • The unit is activated by using the pedal (3).
  • Sterile saline (4) flows through low-pressure tubing to the power console (2) where it is pressurised.
  • Pressurised saline is forced under very high pressure through a tiny jet nozzle at the end of the handpiece (1), producing a high velocity stream, and creating a vacuum.
  • This saline stream is directed backwards across the operating window and into the evacuation collector tube in the handpiece, which also collects any debris or contaminants created by the procedure.
  • The saline and debris are collected in a waste container (5).

Single use sterile handpieces are sold separately from the Power Console and Pedal.  The saline bag and waste output device are not supplied.

Indications

  • Effective in debriding damaged and necrotic tissue in traumatic wounds, chronic wounds, surgical incisions and burns5-8
  • Cleaning debris and foreign matter from acute and traumatic wounds5-7
